Getting to 50/50

While my path in life has in no way been linear. All roads have led me to look/experience the lack of equality that exists straight in the face. This is regardless of the industry I have worked, as a solo female founder navigating the capital landscape, as a philanthropist and activist speaking out against gender-based violence, and in every boardroom I have sat in. While I could focus on the lack and play the "poor me/us role," instead I have always taken action and I work towards change. The reality is that women alone will not create the lasting ripple effect needed to make long lasting change, we need strong men to rally with us and demand for a more equal way of working, living, and loving. We all have a role to play to get to 50/50.

I dream and work towards a day when women around the world own and run half of the businesses out there, where we are equally represented in every boardroom, where our strength in mountains, waves, dirt, flight and are equally celebrated as our counterparts, where what we earn is a reflection of our great work, where our daughters know they can grow up to be anything they want to be with a community to champion them to success in all fields. I also dream and work towards a world where violence against women is not tolerated, where education and health care is available to all for us to thrive. Women are the largest untapped resource on the planet. #GettingTo5050 means we change the world. 

Today, May 10th, is the first annual 50/50 Day, with thousands of organizations, companies, schools, museums, libraries and homes — anywhere people already gather — in a global conversation about what it will take to get to a more gender-balanced world in all sectors of society: business, politics, culture, home, and more.
