The Roof of Africa's Disappearing Glaciers- Watch the Film

In June 2018 I set off with Explorer Tim Jarvis and team to climb and document the sublimating glacier on Africa's Rooftop, Mt. Kilimanjaro.

"Just like a mountain is really big and daunting, I think climate change can seem daunting and a big problem to solve. The reality is if all of us take little steps and make little changes in our lives, we will all make a collective difference." - Georgina Miranda.

The question is, what else are we prepared to lose? There is no Planet B.

Special thanks to Kathmandu for being a leader in sustainability around the world and supporting this expedition and this important message. Learn more about 25 zero.

25zero IS A PROJECT THAT USES DRAMATIC IMAGES OF THESE MELTING GLACIERS AND STORIES OF PEOPLE BEING AFFECTED BY THEIR DECLINE TO ‘SHOW’ CLIMATE CHANGE, ENGAGE NEW PEOPLE IN THE ISSUE AND FUND CLIMATE CHANGE PROJECTS.

Kilimanjaro 5985m// Mountains and Voices// On June 10 -5:45 am I made it for the second time to the top of the roof of Africa (last time 2009). Our whole team made it up! The mountains have given me a voice in life to speak about things I care deeply about...women and our planet. There's no doubt this glacier is sublimating and will be gone in my lifetime; don't let that new snow fool you. It's an honor to witness places at risk and also a wake up call...what else are we prepared to lose? Proud of our team, 10 strangers coming together at different skill levels to create a stronger voice and tell a story. It was a beautiful experience and testimony of the human spirit and how each of us has the power to drive change. I'll be following up with some practical ways we can all reduce our footprint. For now filled with immense gratitude to collaborate with @timjarvisam and @kathmandugear and the #25zero initiative highlighting the 25 glaciers at risk along the equator. More photos and videos to come. For now thank you to my body, our beautiful planet, and this amazing team. These mountains give us so much, so much more than we can ever do for them. #climatechange #sheventures #kathmandugear #nofilter ____________________________ More about why I climbed Kilimanjaro with @timjarvisam and @kathmandugear: It is unlikely we'll be able to save the glaciers, they'll be gone in my lifetime. What else are we prepared to lose? #25zero is a project that is documenting the decline of the earths equatorial glaciers with dramatic vision and images of the glaciers and stories of people and places being affected by their loss to show effects of climate change. This is important because you cannot see greenhouse gases. And for many seeing is believing. 3 ways to get involved: Amplify - spread the word about our work. Act - reduce your own carbon footprint.
