Living From Your Full Potential
The Power of Breath Sea or Sky
The journey inward to discovering our full potential can be the most daring and rewarding and our best gift to those around us.
I had the pleasure of being invited to speak at Booking.com this week here in Amsterdam to discuss this very thing. When thinking of the value we bring to our teams, the focus needs to start within. When we are living and operating from our full potential- mind, body, and spirit- it not only benefits ourselves, but everyone around us.
Leaving San Francisco
My breath. Something that most of my life I took for granted in a sense. Yes, grateful each day to breathe and be alive, but never really realizing the power it has had in my life or the magic it could deliver. Breath is life and freedom and love and salvation all in one. Breath is an incredible instrument for healing and growth if we give time to cultivate the concentrated practice of it.
Our Greatest Adventure
It’s taken me a long time to be able to write this. As crazy time flies, it’s been close to a year since I left San Francisco, what had been my home on and off for 7 years. Leaving there officially October 17, 2017 in retrospect was the best thing I ever did. (If you don’t want to read the background skip down to “ripping off the bandaid”).
Replenishing Mind. Body. Spirit- Joshua Tree
What is our greatest adventure? We are living it, right now, today, as we speak...it's called life.
My relationship with the word "adventure" has changed over the years. It's no longer just the act of being on an actual adventure, but a way of life. Adventure is of mind, body, and spirit elevated and expanded to new potentials within ourselves.
Solitude + Stillness
Energy: I'm definitely an extrovert and LOVE people and community BUT as much as I put out, more and more I need to replenish.
Movement and Ritual
I can thank entrepreneurship for helping me appreciate quiet moments. As a founder, life can seem like a crazy roller coaster jumping off one ride onto the next. Constant calls, meetings, being on the road, often times lack of consistency or stability-whew it can wear you out. When you actually just get a moment with yourself, it's a little treasure.
Filling Your Heart Instead of Your Pocket
Movement has been a necessary ritual in my life for over a decade. What that looks like varies day to day. Turns out movement is the ultimate emotional boost! Having a bad day, feeling depressed, feeling anxious? Move your body even for 20 minutes...those awful feelings start to melt away.
Transition. Change. New Beginings
Life is a series of choices, a journey and not a destination. When is the last time you made a major life decision/choice based on whether it would bring you joy? If you are like me, about August this past year I came to the shocking realization that the answer for me was never. All of my major life choices had been made around having purpose, life fulfillment, life bucket lists, accomplishments, but never joy.
Focus on the Rise
And so it's time for an adventure! When life has been screaming at you to make a change, you have a choice-to listen, or keep on the same path knowing in your heart it's wrong.
At the end of September I gave away 80% of my things (don't worry the 20% is my gear 🙂), got rid of my rent controlled SF apartment with an amazing view, and spent the last month on the couches of many dear friends as I traveled around the country to bring She Ventures to life alongside some amazing women that are game changers and living their truth to bring adventure, wellness, and community to the world around them.
Visiting the Blank Canvas
My first stop was a solo attempt of Mt. Blanc. In the end, it was a failed attempt due to altitude sickness in a 24 hour push and I ended up having a massive fall when I was just about to rejoin the lower trail that resulted in surgery in October. YET, the biggest learning was the whole time from the fall to post recovery of the surgery, I was always focused on the RISE!
Why We Must Keep Climbing
Imagining life as a blank canvas can feel incredibly liberating… “wow you can create ANYTHING you want!”… but also terrifying…“holy cow it’s blank, what should my painting look like?” Lately, I have been reminded to go back to my own blank canvas and encouraged to revisit what type of masterpiece I want to create, not just for this next year, but for my life.
When the Impossible Becomes Possible: Summiting Mt. Everest
The mountains have become my teacher, my soul quencher, my inspiration to keep exploring and push limits. Yet in climbing, the journey up the mountain is not without its challenges, trials, and doubt as to whether continue onward. Lately the mountains have been the constant reminder as to why we must keep climbing in life, even when the going gets tough, when the storm sets in, and the top of that mountain seems out of reach.
All That We Are
It was indeed the hardest physical challenge I have ever endured. My heart is full with gratitude for being able to experience beauty and wonder in such a pure form. The top of the world was even more spectacular than I could have ever imagined! A cause gave me inspiration and fueled my determination to go for a second attempt of this formidable peak.
I do not belong in a box. I just plainly do not fit in one. I have always known this about myself. There are so many aspects that make up who I am that I would struggle to lose any part of that in my work, my relationships or in my passions. Yet, I have struggled at different times in my life by feeling I was putting myself in one in order to move forward.
